Paediatric Occupational Therapy Mentoring
Professional supervision is an essential component of an Occupational Therapist’s professional development and is one key strategy in assisting occupational therapists to meet their professional obligations.
Mentoring is seen as distinct from supervision, with the key difference being that the mentor is not in a role that is responsible for the mentee’s performance. The focus is on supporting the mentee’s professional growth, including the development of knowledge and skills.
Mentorship is often accessed by therapists as an additional support to supervision provided by an employer. However it is even more valuable when targeted occupational therapy clinical or professional supervision is not provided or available within a workplace.
Our experienced senior therapists have a strong skillset in provision of mentorship, and the practice is seen as a leader within Australia in using an evidence-based mentoring approach in paediatric occupational therapy.
Mentoring sessions are led by the mentee’s goals, and are scheduled at a time which is suitable for both the mentee and mentor. Group mentorship is also available.
