About the Presenters

 

Frances Dobson

 MappSc (Occ. Ther.), BAppSc (Occ. Ther.), Dip AppSc (Occ.Ther)

Frances graduated from Cumberland College of Health Sciences (now The University of Sydney) in 1979, and obtained a Master of Health Science (Occupational Therapy) specialising in developmental disabilities through the University of Sydney in 2001. Since 1981 Frances has had the privilege of working as an occupational therapist with children and families in a range of settings and specialist multi-disciplinary teams.  These have included services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and families experiencing psycho-social disadvantage. Her particular areas of clinical interest include babies and young children, children with developmental delays, children with Autism, and families impacted by trauma. Frances has a strong commitment to collaborative and family-centred practice, and to strengths-based and capacity building approaches. Frances has been active in continuing her own professional development as well as providing education and mentoring to other occupational therapists.

 
 
 

Olivia Jackson

MappSc (Occ. Ther.), Grad. Cert. (Occ. Ther.), BAppSc (Occ. Ther.)

Olivia graduated as an Occupational Therapist from Sydney University in 1989. Both her post-graduate qualifications majored in paediatrics and developmental disability. She has worked as an Occupational Therapist in paediatrics for the past 32 years, with children aged 0-18 years with a range of complex needs and challenges.  Over this period she has worked in Disability Services and Community Health and for the past 18 years has owned and operated her own private practice, with a large team of clinicians.  She has used a wide range of service delivery models and intervention approaches. Her particular areas of interest are school-based practice, children with complex needs and children who are diagnosed as twice exceptional.    Olivia has a strong commitment to family-centred practice and working collaboratively with the team of health professionals and educators in supporting the child and their family/carers to achieve their goals. Olivia is a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney and is currently completing research focusing on the role of mentorship in paediatric occupational therapy practice. She regularly mentors occupational therapists through Mentorlink and privately.

 

Target Group - Who Should Attend?

Occupational Therapists currently working with children and adolescents or soon to work within a paediatric setting.

 Registrations are now open for the workshop. Please complete the attached form. The presenters prefer to keep the number of participants lower to provide more targeted education, and therefore numbers are capped at 30. A waiting list will be kept once places are full and names will be taken from the waiting list if there are cancellations.
